About HIVE — What Makes Us Human?
About HIVE

What makes us human?

Somebody had to do something about the answer. Not write about it. Not keynote about it. Actually build it. So a family did. In 2021 Mitch and Diana Mitchem built HIVE as a human skills development hub. By 2022 it emerged as the leader in using human skills to make working with AI far more effective. In short, they built a team to make AI useful.

Why we exist

Humans were disappearing into their tools. Nobody was doing anything real about it.

Technology was never built to give anything back. HIVE was built to change that. We put the human element back where it belongs, front and center, non-negotiable.

HIVE is a family operation and an immigrant-owned company. Diana came to America at twelve and built a life here from nerve and work. That is not a footnote to our story, it is the engine of it. We build the way we live: together, forward, and betting on people every single time.

Combined, the Mitchems took their human skills experience and built a company that has trained over 120,000 people and climbing, worked with some of the world's top brands, and truly changed the face of human-AI interaction. A team, a philosophy, and a product, all pointed at one thing: making sure humans never have to relearn what it means to be one.

We built HIVE because human essence and skills were disappearing and nobody was doing anything real about that.

One family. One discipline.

Diana Mitchem

Co-Founder · Majority Owner · Heart of HIVE Education

Diana is the operational foundation of everything HIVE does. The systems. The partnerships. The people. The details that hold a vision together when everything is moving at once. HIVE does not exist without her.

She immigrated to America at twelve, taught herself English by fourteen, and earned two pre-med degrees from the University of Colorado Boulder. As majority owner, she is an immigrant who built her seat rather than waited for one, the heart of the HIVE education effort, and the standard behind every room we run.

Mitch Mitchem

Mitch Mitchem

Co-Founder · Owner · Speaker · Author

Mitch has spent three decades in front of people. Over 10 million of them, across 4,000 stages in 12 countries. Performer. Founder. Speaker. Author. He took the TED stage to make the case for the human element in technology.

He co-founded and scaled High There, one of the first social platforms in its space, to hundreds of thousands of users around the world. He has built innovation and leadership programs for brands like Disney, Microsoft, Purina, and Pizza Hut, including a six-million-dollar engagement, the first of its kind in Purina's history.

He watched humans slowly hand themselves over to systems that were never built to give anything back. So he wrote a book about it. Built a company about it. Built an app about it. Mitch studied improv at Second City in Chicago.

Research · Brand & Experience

Tyler is the next generation of HIVE. A philosopher by training, he leads the research and protects the brand and experience lens across every engagement. His whole discipline is the one question the AI era turns on: not what the technology can do, but how it should serve the people using it.

He tests every recommendation against a single measure. Does this amplify human judgment, or quietly erase it? Tyler is proof that Amplify, Not Automate is not one founder's idea. It is a discipline being carried forward.

What else we do

We build for the humans inside the work.

HIVE works with Fortune 500 companies, healthcare systems, energy operators, sports franchises, and the humans inside them who are trying to lead through the most disorienting decade of their professional lives.

1

Train what AI can't replicate

Judgment. Leadership. Presence. Critical thinking. Adaptability under pressure. The human skills that compound while everything else changes.

2

Build AI around humans

We design and build custom AI tools and agentic systems for organizations that want technology built around their people, not the other way around.

3

Deliver results that hold

Over 120,000 professionals trained and climbing. A 97% AI implementation success rate against an industry average of 6%. Numbers that don't happen by accident.

Tools change. Markets change. Technology changes faster than anyone can keep up with. The humans inside the work are the only thing that compounds. So we build for the humans.

The HIVE difference

Everyone is building AI faster to replace humans. We are building humans better to make sure that never happens.

In their words

They came for the AI. They remembered the human.

It was the best keynote I have heard on AI because it was easy to understand, fun, engaging, and encouraging. HIVE did not tell us how AI was going to replace us. The experience empowered us.

We started with one question. What makes us human?

That is the whole company. That is the whole mission. That is the whole HIVE.
